Meet Our People
Introducing Anthony Devlin, our Chair

“East Kilbride Burgh is one of the oldest clubs in East Kilbride and has been providing the opportunity for the community to take part in football since 1968, I have been club Chairman for the past 3 years but my relationship with the club goes back to over 30 years ago when I played for the team.
Since 2011 I have been a coach with the club taking my oldest son’s team from under 5 age group through to Under 19’s and during that time I also coached my youngest son’s 2011 team since 2016 and continue to do so today.
Myself and the rest of the Club Committee and Charity Trustees are aiming to ensure the sustainability of the club and the availability for children and adults to continue to play football within East Kilbride by striving to have a team at every age from preschool to adult.
Our long term objective is to develop and improve facilities in order to create a Club Hub which will ensure the availability for all to access a high standard football facility to develop football skills, physical health, social skills and team work.*
Introducing Kim Brogan Charity Trustee, 2017 Secretary and Coach

“I first started out as a parent – as you do… supporting my oldest son and husband from the sidelines as they played and coached for the 2015s and then began embracing club responsibilities when my youngest son’s age group (2017s) started up and needed volunteers. It is then I realised it takes a village not only to raise children but to run a football team!
I am very proud to be part of the Burgh family. Being a coach in grassroots football is both a challenging and a rewarding role – to be able to support young kids as they grow and develop not only as footballers but as the future generations to come is an absolute privilege. Seeing it all come together week in week out at training and game days with the smiles and small moral victories is what it’s all about. I highly recommend joining in – the community we have built is endless with the different age groups of players and coaches and I look forward to continuing building the club further with driving plans for a central Burgh Hub as part of my Charity trustee position to strengthen future players pathways. It’s become a way of life. Mon the Burgh!”
Introducing David Bryce Charity Trustee & 2014 Coach

As a former player, football has always been a huge part of my life growing up so when my son decided he wanted to play, we got involved with Burgh.
As part of the coaching team who got the 2014’s started, my involvement has been so rewarding to see a group of young kids grow to learn and love the game the same way it did with me.
The opportunities football brings for personalities and confidence to grow is one of the main reasons I got involved from the start and have built friendships for life. Many of my former team mates I am still in contact with to this day.
As one of the Charity Trustees I can see things going from strength to strength and I am very excited to be playing part in that development alongside my fellow coaches, parents and of course the most important people which are kids.
A great and long established club like Burgh is a critical foundation to help all kids regardless of background.
Introducing Craig Hutton - Charity Trustee, Coach Co-ordinator, 2015 Secretary/Coach & 2019 Coach

I have been the 2015s age group Team Secretary since 2020 when my oldest boy joined the Burgh. We started the team up when COVID-19 restrictions were in place which definitely brought additional challenges. However, this fuelled me to make the team a success as we were providing a social experience and exercise for the kids during a time where these were very limited. The team are still going strong and we have had a consistently strong squad of players since the beginning.
During 2024, I then started the 2019s age group and of course threw myself in as the Team Secretary too. Can’t do one child and not the other, right? Second time round was always going to be easier as I gained so much knowledge, skills and experience over the years from coaching the 2015s. Now I am well and truly committed to the club with my involvement in both teams.
I am also the club Coach Coordinator and a member of the Committee Team, as well as listed as a Trustee for the club with our charity status . We currently have an application in with our local council which includes huge plans to take over local facilities via a Community Asset Transfer and provide a hub for the club to use. This will ensure the sustainability of the club and provide a pathway from pre-school to amateur football. This is an exciting time and I feel privileged to be a part of this project and, of course, the Burgh family!
Mon the Burgh!
Introducing Scott Wheatley - Charity Trustee, Club/Charity Secretary & Treasurer and 2015s Coach

My time started in 2015 when my oldest boy joined EK Burgh as a 2010 player – a proud parent first then the love of the game takes over! This led me on to support my youngest with our current 2015s team. Folk know me as the Burgh dogs body – in the nicest way … I think! As most back office works go through me and although I often like to have a good moan about it … I also wouldn’t have it any other way as no one else would do it right! I’ve supported many players & pulled in as many volunteers over the years and I’m still here standing – usually silently behind the scenes but loud & proud pitch side!
